New movie theaters to see The Boy and the Heron TERMAN WEBSITE

Vértigo Films expands thelist of cinemasthat will once again screen The Boy and the Heron . Thus, the distributor is relaunching Hayao Miyazaki’s latest film in50 theatersspread across30 citiesfollowing its win at the Oscar forbest animated film.

 

This is the  second  Oscar  for Japanese animation and for Hayao Miyazaki and  Studio Ghibli , who already won this award in 2003 for the film  Spirited Away . Both Miyazaki and  Toshio Suzuki  were unable to collect the award in person.

This new work from the director of  My Neighbor Totoro  and  Spirited Away. While it bears the same title as  Genzaburo Yoshino  ‘s 1937  novel Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka , the film is an  original story  written by Miyazaki himself. In fact, the director has also been in charge of the script and storyboard. For his part,  Takeshi Honda  is in charge of character designs and animation direction. Following them both  is Atsushi Okui  who is the director of photography. Finally,  Joe Hisaishi  ( My Neighbor Totoro ,  Princess Mononoke ,  Howl’s Moving Castle ) has collaborated again with Miyazaki to compose the music for this film.

On the other hand, Studio Ghibli  has been in charge of production, although it has the support of the  Khara studio . The film premiered in Japan on July 14 and after a month on the Japanese big screen it grossed  6,235 billion yen  (39,261,795 euros), having accumulated a total of  4.25 million viewers . The film  premiered in Spain on October 27. Followed by this, in the following  link  you can read some first impressions of The Boy and the Heron.
